RE: Atwood Jacks

I recieved my remote from Gama Electronics today. Works great. But now I found that the relay on the control board to one jack is bad. Board is on order. I finally recieved a reply from Atwood after two emails to them. Sue Noyes reply was that Atwood has never had a recall on their remotes and that I must have been misinformed. That must mean that at least three members on this board are liars. My repy to her is that Atwood can keep their products and I will do business elsewhere.

RE: Atwood Jacks

Did you order this one: Gama Electronics Generic RF Controller? Yes thats the one I ordered. I emailed Gama and was told that this is the replacement for the Atwood controller. It has not arrived yet due to Paypal dragging their feet on payment to Gamma. I will post the good or bad results when the controller arrives. I also emailed Atwood, but still no response from them.

RE: Atwood Jacks

I ordered a replacement remote from Gamma Electronics for $50. None of my jacks will move up or dowm. If that dont fix it, I will order the board next. It has to be the transmitor in the remote or the receiver in the board. I emailed Atwood 4 days ago and still have no reply. My remote was recalled 5 years ago. It would be nice if they honored the recall, but asking for a free replacement five years later is pushing it. TrvsDad1, Thanks for the reminder about being careful with electricity. I am a master electrician and have dealt with it daily for nearly 30 years. 12 volts dc can kill under the right circumstances.

Atwood Jacks

Either the remote or the control board for the wireless jacks on my 2002 Lance 835 bit the dust. I am trying to find someone near me, Lexington SC that will lend me a remote to try on my control board so I can figure out which one is gone. Has anyone dealt with Gamma Electronics or Rv Trader on Ebay? Their prices are much better than my local rv dealers. There was a recall on my remote several years back and I am waiting for a reply from Atwood. Any help or advice will be much Appreciated.

RE: Visits with RV.NET TC friends - do you get them?

Went to the Southern Comfort TC rally last fall in Georgia. Went for a ride on Jeeper92's pontoon. Sat by Love2skiskys's campfire in the rain sipping on Coronas. Truck campers are the best people. My drive way is open with power, water, and sewer for all RV Net truck campers.

RE: Who has big Fall TC Trips Planned?

If fuel keeps rising, I will be camping in the back yard. We have a trip scheduled to Edisto Beach SC mid September and hope to hit the Blue Ridge Parkway from Ashville N.C. to I-95 in VA. sometime in late October.

RE: First and Last

Coming back from the coast last month I decided to speed up to 75mph to gain speed for a long gradual hill ahead. The back end started swaying and took several hundred feet to recover. I came way too close to losing control. My truck is a Chevy 2500 srw loaded with a Lance 835. The man above was watching over us. My truck will never see get to 70 mph again loaded. My next rig will be a drw.

RE: Southern Comfort Truck Camper Rally trip report

We have been camping for 30+ years. The Petersburg COE campground is by far the cleanest and over all best campground we have ever used. Dave, the campfire was great. Jeepers,We enjoyed the pontoon ride. To all the others, the companionship and food was wonderful.

RE: Northstar camper on a Tundra ?

At the Columbia South Carolina Sportsmans Classic last weekend I asked a Regional rep from Toyota when they were going to make a heavier truck. He said sometime in late 2009. He went on to tell me that the present Tundra would handle a 3000 lb slide in with ease with my 4000 lb boat in tow. I think I will wait till 2009.

RE: Hatteras Island Beaches

I was planning a week long trip to the Hatteras sea shore mid May. But it sounds like they dont want our tourist dollars any more. Maybe I need to stay around the South Carolina beaches.

RE: Lance 915 vs 835 weigh-in

I have a 2000 Chevy 2500 srw long bed and my 835 does just fine. The truck is stock with E rated tires. I tow a 4000 pound boat also. But I would upgrade to a 3500 truck for the 915 due to the boat weight.

RE: Need advise about 6.0 Diesel

Never, never use a discount parts store or discount chain repair shop. They almost always have one low payed experienced mechanic and a bunch of very low payed kids fresh out of high school doing the grunt work. And in some cases the kids are better than the lead mechanics. Always use a shop that has at least one factory certified mechanic.

RE: Decisions upcoming...

I am 4 years out from retiring also.Last summer we bought a preowned Lance 835 to put on my Chevy 2500. We wanted to try truck camping before we went deep into our pockets to buy new. So far, we absolutely love it. Only 1 problem so far. Wife has bad knees and climbing into the overcab bed is not easy for her. It has been wonderful to take the boat with us and not have to take 2 vehicles. 2 years from retirement we plan to upgrade to a new chevy or Ford 250/2500 srw diesel and a new Lance 915. Another great thing about owning a tc is that they require no licence plate, therefore you pay no property tax on them.

RE: Members welcoming fellow members

Good Idea. Plenty of room in my driveway for overnite stop overs. I am less than a mile from I-20 and have hook ups.
